First Lutheran is blessed with a rich mix of ages, and has a large number of young families who participate in the life of the congregation. We provide a variety of ongoing opportunities and resources to equip families to practice faith together, as well as seasonal opportunities for fun and fellowship.

Taking Faith Home Devotions

Each week, Pastor Kari sends out a “Taking Faith Home” email devotion to those who have requested it. The devotion includes Bible readings, prayers, and ideas for service and conversation that relate to the Lectionary Bible readings each week. This resource is great for families with children as well as grandparents who are active in their grandchildren’s lives. If you would like to receive either of these resources, contact Pastor Kari.

Parents Share

Parents Share is a time for parents to come together and share the joys and struggles of raising kids.  In this group, no one person is the expert; rather, we learn from each other.  Whether you have one kid or five kids, whether your baby is a newborn or your kids are all in school, we invite you to come to this time of fellowship and conversation.

Parents Share meets every Wednesday during the school calendar year at 9:30 a.m. Nursery care will be available and snacks will be provided. Contact Pastor Kari if you have questions or would like more information.

Faith Families

Faith Families meets once a month at 4:00 p.m. for 45 minutes. Families read a Bible story and do an activity related to that Bible story together. Each activity is family-led and provides families with an opportunity for families to grow in relationship with the people they love most and the God who loves them most of all. All families with children are welcome.

Family Matters Night

Family Matters Nights are offered three times during the school calendar year on a Wednesday night from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Each night includes a speaker who speaks on a specific topic related to raising kids faithfully and positively. A meal is offered prior to the presentation from 5:00-5:25 p.m. These presentations are open to all parents. Activities and childcare are provided for kids during the presentation.

Vibrant Faith at Home

Vibrant Faith @ Home supports families who are intentional about their faith and religious practice as they raise the next generation of committed Christians. More than 60 faith activities are published each season — spring, summer, fall, and winter for the following audiences: Adult/Couple, Young Family, Teen Family, Just for Kids, Parents and Grandparents.

To access these resources, all you have to do is go to www.vibrantfaithathome.org. You can also search for articles and activities by audience or category.

Family Ministry Team

Our Family Ministry Team meets on a bi-monthly basis to plan events throughout the year.  If you have suggestions or ideas to share, please contact Pastor Kari or call the church office, 320-762-2196.
