Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School (VBS) is usually held the first two weeks after school is out in June. There are two fun-filled weeks with lively skits, crafts, music, and lessons about God’s love for us.  Preschool VBS is usually held the week before or after K-5 VBS.  Children age 3 by September 1st of the previous year through age 5 and not yet in kindergarten, are invited to attend a Preschool week of Vacation Bible School.  Children in Kindergarten through 5th grade of the previous year are invited to attend an Elementary week of Vacation Bible School.

Vacation Bible School is an exciting week full of surprises, and we look forward to having you and your child be a part of it.

2017 VBS will be held June 12th – 16th for ages 3 through 5th Grade

JR FLY – Middle School Ministry – (6th – 8th grade)

September-April, Wednesdays 7:00-8:00 p.m.

JR FLY is our confirmation program at First Lutheran.  We offer a Holistic Approach to our youth programming where students learn in body, mind and spirit.  Throughout the year, students will build relationships and grow in faith through Worship, Fellowship, Service Learning, and Large/Small Groups activities.

For more information about the JR FLY, please contact Kim Taylor (Youth Ministry Director)

Summer Stretch

First Lutheran has joined forces with Shalom Lutheran, Bethesda Lutheran, Calvary Lutheran and St. Mary’s Catholic Church to form a summer youth program.  The program is called Summer Stretch and is for students who have completed 5th-12th grade.  We came together each Wednesday throughout June and July to do service projects around town in the morning, and then fellowship events in the afternoon.

Summer Stretch is also an opportunity for our high school youth to mentor small groups, and to lead by example, while getting training and excellent ministry experience.  We end the summer with a trip to Valleyfair where we join thousands of other youth from churches around MN who participate in Summer Stretch in their own communities.

Other Opportunities for Youth, Grades 6-8

We will do special events for youth in grades 6th-8th grade throughout the year.  Some of those events include:  JR High Synod Youth Gatherings and Summer Trips.

SR FLY – Senior High Ministry – (9th – 12th grade)

September-April, Wednesdays, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Faith is not something we “learn” as much as it is something we experience. We experience it through loving, Christ-centered relationships.  At First Lutheran, 9-12th graders are invited to learn in body, mind and spirit through Worship, Fellowship, Service Learning, and Large/Small Group activities.

For more information about the SR FLY, please contact Kim Taylor (Youth Ministry Director)
