| Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; 5and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord; 6 and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. 7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 8 1 Corinthians 12:3b-7 (NRSV) God has gifted each of us in remarkable and useful ways for the work God calls us to do. There's promise and challenge in that. We need to be reminded from time to time that our gifts – our time, our talents and our possessions – are not in reality ours, but are to be freely used for building up the body of Christ and in service to the Lord. God brought each of us here to be part of the puzzle of this faith community -- to find places to fit our gifts and passions in with everyone else's. Fitting into the life of First Lutheran is about joining together to further the Kingdom of God. Please take the time to pray the following prayer and listen to God’s answer. Think about the things you are good at and enjoy doing. Those things are your God-given gifts and they can be put to use in service of God, the church at large, First Lutheran, and the world. Good & Gracious God, help me see all the gifts you have given me in my baptismal calling. Give me the courage to offer them all in your service and to your glory. In Christ's name I pray. Amen.
