| Worship at First Lutheran is a celebration and time of renewal. It is the center of our life together as God’s people. Through Word and Sacrament, inspiring music, and practical, relevant sermons, we receive the assurance of God’s love and grace.
The music and liturgies that we use in worship come from a variety of sources including traditional, contemporary, and multicultural. The current weekly worship bulletin and the announcements are available through the "What's New" webpage. Carlos Park Worship The 10:30 a.m. outdoor worship at Carlos State Park (located north of Alexandria on Highway 29) begins the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend every summer and continues through Labor Day (weather permitting!). Join others from the community and vacationers at the park in a lay-led worship by the lake shore under the trees in the park amphitheater. A wonderful way to enjoy and celebrate God’s creation!
Directions: Take Highway 29 north approximately 6 miles to County Road 38. Take a left on County Road 38 and follow around to the entrance to the State Park. You will need a state park permit to enter the park. For your own safety, please do not park illegally in the bike lanes on County Road 38. City Park Worship During the summer months, we “move” our regular 11:00 worship outdoors to the beautiful Alexandria City Park. We worship down by the band shell near the lake. Come as you are. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy worshipping in this beautiful outdoor setting. If the weather is rainy, we’ll make a decision by 9:00 a.m. and the announcement will be made on KXRA radio (1490 AM) at the beginning of the 9:45 worship to move the service back to the sanctuary at 11:00. Otherwise … put on your sunglasses and sunscreen, and join us down by the water at City Park for worship each Sunday morning. Directions to City Park in Alexandria: Take Hwy 29 North out of Alexandria. Turn left at the “Y” (by Holiday gas station), then left again on City Park Road which is across from TCBY and Subway.
Worship Schedule September through the end of May
Holy Communion is celebrated on the first and third Sundays of each month, and on those Saturdays when communion is not offered on Sunday. The Praise Team leads the 11:00 Sunday worship. Nursery care is provided for infants through 3 years of age during the 8:30 and 9:45 Sunday worship services from September through May. Nursery pagers are available for parents to bring along to worship. The 9:45 worship service is broadcast each Sunday on KXRA Radio 1490 AM.
